Irvine 1990
After Colin had returned home from his London fiasco he stayed in Irvine with his parents for a short time before
gaining a new job in Kirkcaldy, Fife.
To obviate the boredom he designed and built a miniature electronic amplifier for his Sony Walkman with an LM386
black chip. Once built he advertised the device (oh oh wrong move!) in the local supermarket where they had a
customer notice board. In the same way it is done in electronic magazines - he photographed the inside jaw-bucks
of the device and displayed it on the board : three days later the photograph was dispersed and torn on the floor.
A presumption (calcultated guess) was that the event of displayin' the device in a supermarket sparked off a 'man hunt'
to find out who the designer was! Obviously the boys in blue got hold of it and marked Colin as a 'bomber'!
Glasgow 1995
Colin was building another miniature electronic amplifier (Mark 4). At the old Maplans store in Glasgow
(on St Enoch Square) he bought an electronic relay (a maganetic switch); and with his business done that
day he relaxed with a 'few' black beers! To forget the turgid past of London 1990.
On his way home, via the Gallowgate of Glasgow, he entered the chipper for a bag o' chips for the bus
home, but on realising he hadn't enough, he left the premises quietly telling the lady at the till,
'Not got enough.' The bus stop was just outside the chipper - waiting for a no. 18 bus.
