Regarding groups - it is an inherent human element. It is safety in numbers.
But teach youngsters (especially boys) at secondary school self reliance. i.e. to
operate themselves and this breaks up the gang mentality - it also breaks up the
youths' habit of attaching themselves to the 'young skull teams'.
This gives rise to self reliance and self belief and the ability to survive dangerous
situations (Lille 1983++).
Also, when you get your burger at the vans, for lunch, make sure you cover your tracks
and always place empty cartons in the bins. This was our first test in the Royal Air Force (1980 - 1982)
In 1990 I was caught in London - stranded - caused by money - the ATM refused my money card!
I drifted from street to street until it was dark. Had to find a safe house - quickly! I did
- the basement of the tenament block had wood, blankets and I used my rucksack as a pillow.
Used the two planks of wood to be made into a bed. I slept well considering the circumstances.
In the morning at about 0700hrs I quickly departed leaving the man's safe house exactly as it
was when I entered the pad - never to be known I was there that night.
Airmen (SOS Regiment); Sailors (SBS) and Soldiers (SAS) always cover their tracks!
Teach young boys to have more self reliance - not the social media circus on smart phones!
Tell them to use wee memo pads (from WH Smith) as these wee pads don't need batteries!
