The Light Above

Going down and coming up,
Into the dark, then back to the light,
How you go down is a matter of time,
If you come up can be a fight;

When you are down there,
Deep down in the dark,
Maybe you are stuck there,
Needing a spark;

You struggle and struggle,
A life passing by,
Chasing the moment,
In the blink of an eye.

And hope fades away,
With each passing day,
You wait and you wait,
For someone to say:

Yes, I can hear you,
A path will be shown,
A tunnel of love,
Will come from above.

But still you are waiting,
While hoping the best,
This message of love,
Is it enough?

Then, BANG, through the wall,
A tiny gap shows,
Bigger and bigger,
The hole of hope grows.

So starts the contact,
With him up above,
The dread, the excitement,
Of roads back to love.

But still you are waiting,
While laying the trail,
If first, if last,
There is no guaranteed pass.

Till, all of a sudden,
It is ready to go,
To take you, to lift you,
The tunnel is whole.

Then slowly, we enter,
One after one,
Taking our turn,
With the rising sun.

But still you are waiting,
As you rise up the shaft,
A new life is calling,
no fear of falling.

Whether we make it,
In this life, or another,
It is waiting for us,
We just have to bother.

So when I remove,
The dust from my face,
I open my eyes,
And find a new place.

Leaving the past,
Arriving at last,
In the brightness of day,
My heartstrings say:

I was down in the dark,
Needing a spark,
And took back my right,
To live in the light.
