What really happened in those heady days at Irvine I am not entirely sure, but according to my mother,
it was a 'probe' to extract the brain abscess in Irvine Central Hospital. What was entire coincidence was
that the hospital used to be linked to an old army camp, taken over by a good Swedish truck company -
Volvo. By some ironic twist of fate I joined the Royal Air Force after school.
This extraordinary story is testament to the saying that truth is stranger than fiction.
